ANNUAL EXHIBITION - DATES AND ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2012

The RSMA's Annual Exhibition was held at the Mall Galleries in London during last October and was opened by the polar explorer and adventurer Pen Hadow.  Apart from app. 300 pictures and sculptures by some of the best marine artists working today there was the usual programme of demonstrations by RSMA Members during the course of the show.  What was impressive was the fact that despite the current economic climate both attendance and sales were well up on the previous year and planning has already started on the 2012 show which will coincide with major improvements to the Mall Galleries hanging space.

2012 - DIGITAL SUBMISSION FOR NON-MEMBERS

A significant change has been introduced for submissions by non-members this year.  We recognise that it isn't always easy for artists based outside the London area to take their work in to the Mall Galleries for consideration and then be faced with another trip if the work isn't accepted.  This year you can register your interest in submitting work and as a first stage submit a digital image for viewing by the Selection Committee.  If work is selected at this point then it will have to be transported to the Mall Galleries for the normal selection process on the appropriate dates but we hope that this change will encourage those artists who really aren't sure whether they have what it takes to make the grade to have a go.  Full details regarding registration, entry forms, etc., can be found on the Mall Galleries website at www.mallgalleries.org.uk

Receiving days                        August 17/18th

The 2012 show runs from October 17th to the 28th with a Private View on the 16th.

YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION

Once again we will be running a Young Artists Competition this year for those aged 16 - 25 which will offer the opportunity to have your work hung in the prestigious Mall Galleries alongside some of the best marine painters working today.  See the Young Artists page

The RSMA is one of the smaller societies affiliated to the Federation of British Artists at the Mall but it regularly features as one of the top 3 selling exhibitions in the Mall Galleries which probably relates to the enduring popularity of good marine painting and sculpture in the United Kingdom and the high standard of the work on show.
